Gernot Reinstadler was an Austrian alpine ski racer who competed in the 1980s and early 1990s. He was born on February 21, 1969, in Flachau, Austria. Reinstadler specialized in the downhill and super-G events and achieved some notable results during his career.
In 1990, Reinstadler won his only World Cup race, a downhill event in Val Gardena, Italy. He also achieved several podium finishes in World Cup races and had a solid performance at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, where he finished 9th in the downhill.
Tragically, Reinstadler's promising career was cut short when he died in a downhill training accident on January 14, 1991, in Pitztal, Austria. He was only 21 years old at the time of his death. Despite his short-lived career, Reinstadler is remembered as a talented and promising skier who had the potential for continued success on the World Cup circuit.
